miami university's digital holiday catalog

developed bb wears logo

vintage ...

After reading the results of an alumni survey taken by MU's trademarks and licensing department, that was sent to licensees to provide feedback, I learned that there was a very large number of requests for vintage Miami and
this lead me to develop the vintage piece ... as Slant Walk is one of the most significant identifiable motifs of Miami University
I thought this was a perfect find to fill this request
for a licensed product
Down The Old Slant Walk

Inspired by vintage sheet music from my Mother's vintage sheet music collection, this piece was actually displayed on the family piano in the living room for many years and I saw it everyday while I was at "home" so I was very familiar with the piece...
and also remembering Miami alum, class of '33,
"sharing" ...
Irvin C.Hamilton's ...
Miami Waltz Song…Down The Old Slant Walk
and obtained copyrights on his work in Oxford, Ohio
which is printed on the inside of the sheet music
after a lot of research it was described as a find similar to
Keep Calm And Carry On

vintage graphics reimagined ...
and similar to Beautiful Ohio Waltz is often associated with
Ohio State
t-shirt~screen printed on a 100% cotton t-shirt, preshrunk and ringspun.

game day ...
“Game Day” was inspired by a friend
requesting that I create a fight song t-shirt, as a former football player and coach he told me stories of how the coaches had the players memorize the words and how it meant a lot to the players and football coaches and staff to hear the crowd sing the school’s fight song as a sing-a-long at the game.
While discussing the request, my sister suggested that I put the fight song on the back of the t-shirt, apparently my niece had made something similar ...
I thought this also works well as an interactive ... for the design layout I wanted to include some unique features; the school monogram on front left chest, words by and date below the
fight song and I wanted to enlarge the text on the back of the t-shirt, a way to update the fight song t-shirt, picking up on the trends of "interactive", and a way to enhance a fan experience which fits right into the b social collection...
so take one for the team!
Alums when you see the fight song doesn't it make you want to start humming the song...a fun way so show your pride.
While putting some ad copy together I came up with b there b social ...for when meeting up with friends to watch the game!
Great for team building and as a development tool for collegiate athletic scholarship funds.
Initially I ran my idea by MU's Trademarks and Licensing and they felt it was important to get approval from Miami University's attorney's first which I got and then I had the piece produced for the licensing portion to be approved.
I thought it would be a good way for the school to generate revenue.

Post a "selfie" with your favorite Game Day on...create your own social media post: Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Snapchat and Twitter...
or a fun video for YouTube!
Game Day is customizable to feature any College or Universities's Fight Song or Alma Mater with words by. Also available in vintage.

U clues ...
A t-shirt game...a casual Icebreaker...to name a few: fun for travel, conventions and meetings, runs & races, the gym, walks and bike rides...and with social media ...

This concept was already on my mind and after reading in
a Miami University Alumni Magazine
that they were looking for new ideas for MU licensed products I thought this would be fun ...
a good place to get started ...something I would wear as a MU alum ... something a little more
Prodesse Quam Conspici ...
U clues a text design on the back of a t-shirt ...
as an alum a way to share the U story.

U clues is a word game within a text design, remembering that one of the first questions typically asked when meeting new people is where did you go to school...so the clues come from the college or university... year established, iconic stadiums, walkways, motto, historic buildings, famous memorials, inscribed words, etc. Incorporating the unique features of each college or university
along with words from college life.

When I saw the first t-shirt screen printed with U clues the first thing that came to my mind was it's
"Mc Guffey”
to explain further, as a student of Miami University's Laboratory Elementary School we were often asked to create and share,
and at the same time reminding me of both of my parents families ... my Mother's family played a lot of card games and my Father's family did a lot of cross word puzzles...
wearing U clues is like b ing in a card game ...
designed to have the look of a game card in a card game.
the U clues name was picked as a good friend, actually from
Mc Guffey, had given me several suggestions as we were brainstorming,
I was trying to come up with a name and discussing that I wanted to name my products...

From my background and experience I can easily recognize identifiable motifs and reflecting back on how I picked a lot of the clues I realized that some of them came from spending a lot of time
on campus when I was growing up.
I
went to Miami University's Mc Guffey Laboratory School and have fond memories of my early education where a part of the culture of the school was storytelling and teaching with games.
Coincidentally Mc Guffey Hall was the primary location for my studies as a Retail major.
I am also the daughter of a Microbiology Professor and occasionally went to my Dad's office with him on the weekends. I still remember today, I must have been about 5 years old, after leaving his office with him looking to the inscribed words above the Upham Arch and reading them to me ...

"Ye Shall Know The Truth and
The Truth Shall Make You Free"

I didn't understand what it meant at the time but remember to this day him sharing this with me and still hold the meaning dear to heart.

Great for meetings and team building, especially corporate office events and sales meetings.

Share your own unique story...alums, in coming freshman, upper class men, graduate students, professors, administrators, staff, parents fans and visitors!

Host a coffee or party displaying U clues travel mugs and share favorite stories with your cronies!

U clues is customizable for each University (or College).

Ideal for online businesses and utilizing social media streams to reach targeted customers. Universities and Colleges can expand their business and reach alums through social media and YouTube advertising and marketing.
